This role is ideal for a trade-qualified carpenter with strong supervisory experience who enjoys problem-solving, defect rectification, and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
As a Defects Carpentry Supervisor, you will oversee the investigation, coordination and rectification of complex building defects across completed projects. You will work closely with subcontractors, consultants, clients and internal stakeholders to identify root causes, implement effective solutions and ensure all works are completed to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and manage complex building defects and rectification works.
- Identify root causes of defects through onsite testing and investigations.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors carrying out remedial works.
- Monitor progress of rectification activities and provide regular updates.
- Prepare technical reports and recommendations relating to defect issues.
- Ensure all works comply with quality assurance, building compliance and safety requirements.
- Obtain quotations, monitor costs and assist with cost recovery processes.
- Coordinate trades and resources to ensure efficient completion of works.
- Conduct site inductions and maintain compliance with WHS requirements.
- Assist in identifying systemic defects and contribute to lessons learnt initiatives and training programs.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Trade qualification in Carpentry or a related building trade.
- Construction Induction (White) Card.
- Previous experience supervising trades within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of building construction methods and defect rectification.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to read plans, investigate technical issues and develop practical solutions.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
- A commitment to workplace health and safety and quality workmanship.
