The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Design Manager to join our team. Acting as the ‘Project Manager of the Design’, the Design Manager provides a management service to our Clients during ECI, our Estimating Team during Tender and our Project Team during Construction.
The role focuses on managing Safety in Design (SID), consultant engagement, scopes of work, construction documentation and shop drawings. You will verify documentation for compliance with building regulations, authority requirements, the client brief, minimum standards, and final construction methodology and sequencing.
Key Responsibilities:
Management and Coordination of:
- SID Risks ensuring transfer from the 'Designers' to the Construction Team;
- Consultant Scopes, Engagement and Cost Planning;
- Consultant Team Meetings (Agenda & Minutes);
- Value Engineering (VE) Identification and Value Management;
- The Construction Documentation & Shop Drawing process (ACONEX & WORKFLOWS)
- Documentation Program relative to trade letting and site works (MS Project);
- Sub-Contractor build-ability requirements into the Construction Documentation;
- The Principal's PCA ensuring CC award relative to the order of site works;
Assessment and Verification of the Construction Documentation to:
- The Principal's Project Requirements (PPR), Functional Brief or Minimum Standards
- Construction Management Methodology and Sequencing;
- Lessor Works / CAT 1 Works to be completed by Parkview;
- All Building Regulations (NCC), Australian Standards, etc
- All Performance Solutions to Fire Safety, Access etc
- The Development Consent to ensure compliance;
- All 'Separable Portions' or 'Staged CC / OC' to ensure permissible Occupation;
- All Parkview 'Build-Ability' and 'Workmanship' Standards;
- Alternative Design or Products which may improve ROI, Durability and Maintenance
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree in Construction Management, Architecture or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Design Manager for a builder
- Strong project management skills (time, cost, scope)
- Experience in functional briefs, consultant scopes and engagements
- Track record on projects over $50M
- Proficiency in MS Project, Excel and ACONEX
- Strong presentation and communication skills with a collaborative approach
